Websites and leads
Lead Capture
Lead capture is the set of ways a website turns an anonymous visitor into a contact who can be followed up with, usually a form, a phone number, or a booking link. Its effectiveness depends less on the form's design than on whether the page gives someone a reason to use it and asks at a moment when they have one.
The commonest failure is a single contact form on a single contact page. A visitor reading a neighbourhood page who becomes interested there has to navigate away to act, and most do not.
The exchange has to be proportionate. Asking for a phone number in return for a generic newsletter is a poor trade; asking for one in return for sold prices on a specific street is a fair one.
What happens after submission matters as much as the form. A lead that receives no reply for a day is often a lead that has already spoken to someone else.
Why it matters
Traffic without a capture path produces visits that leave no record and cannot be followed up.
