AI Search Visibility
AI search visibility is whether an AI assistant names a specific business when a user asks it a question that business could answer. For a real estate agent, it is the difference between ChatGPT listing three agents in a city and that agent being one of the three. It is measured by asking the assistants the questions buyers ask and recording which names come back, because no assistant publishes a ranking report.
Visibility here is not a score any platform issues. Several tools sell an AI visibility score, and what they generally do is run a set of prompts and count mentions. That is a reasonable method, and it is worth understanding that the number is produced by sampling, not read off an official source.
The results also move between runs. Assistants sample from their outputs rather than returning one fixed answer, so the same prompt asked twice can name different businesses. A single check is a snapshot; a trend needs the same prompts asked repeatedly over time.
The practical starting point is to write down the ten questions a client would genuinely ask an assistant before choosing an agent, ask them, and record the names that appear. That list is the real competitive set, and it is frequently not the same as the competitor list an agent would have written from memory.
Why it matters
Buyers who ask an assistant for an agent and get three names rarely go looking for a fourth, so absence from that list costs the introduction entirely.
